A Fairy Tea Party!

So you'll be happy to know (and if you follow me on twitter) that my first catering job was a success.. thank goodness. I teamed up with Jaye from Jaye's Events tocreate a fairy tea party that any 3 year old would dream of having! Can I just say that this was one SOPHISTICATED little 3 yr old! She wanted to drink real tea.. and eat turkey and cranberry sandwiches. I literally LOL-ed when I heard that. Of course we didn't serve real tea...but they did have their own little tea cups and tea pot, and pretended to drink real tea. They even made the sound that tea makes when it's being poured from the tea pot. It was so cute, all the little girls dressed up in fairy costumes and having a little fairy adventure! I had to plan and prepare a "menu" for the parents and the kids. I made Caramelized Onion and Mushroom Tartlets, Mini Pesto Pizzas, Mini White Chocolate Cheesecakes and Mini Peaches and Cream Cupcakes for the parents. For the kidlets, I made fairy bread cut out in pretty dresses, vanilla cupcakes and of course, turkey and cranberry sandwiches.

Oh gosh. I love using my imaginary shrink ray and turning everything from normal sized portions to teeny finger food bite sized morsels.

There's real peaches inside. One word: Sensational!

The giveaway "loot bags" consisted of a customised colouring in book, crayons, fairy floss and a handmade pinwheel made by Yasmin and Jaye from Whimsically Divine.

The girls sat on mushroom top cushion made by Jaye. EEEP! I could melt in the cuteness of it all!

It was alot of work, but I learnt so much from it. I was really pleased with how it turned out. The food was a hit, especially the tartlets. I may have even scored my second catering job, fingers crossed! I think next time I'll be more prepared and not have only 3 hours sleep the night before, because I was too ambitious and wanted to make everything myself. BTW, major shoutout to my mum who stayed up until really early hours of the morning to help me get organised and saving me from total cupcake disaster (a story which I'll include when I post the recipe for the peaches and cream cupcakes..it's a DOOZY!)

  6. Congratulations on your success! Catering is not an easy task. You have to carefully plan out everything. You have to be prepared in all aspects.
