ZenQ Desserts, Chatswood

Working in Chatswood, definitely does have it's perks. For instance, Mamak only down the road for my roti fix, Crazy Wings right next door for my lamb skewers fix and Sangunja for my sushi fix. As soon as a new food joint opens I can't help but take a curious peek at the menu to see what they have to offer.

ZenQ Desserts is a Taiwanese dessert joint that has been operating in Chatswood for over a month now. Now I'm a newbie when it comes to these types of places. Seeing as I was the only on in the place, I couldn't have a look at what people were ordering. I read through the menu and decided on Red Bean Soup with Sweet Taro, Jelly Cakes and Pearls. I honestly didn't know what to expect. I jsut knew that I liked pearls, and taro and jelly. I also ordered cold Mango Camomile Tea. Shame I was there on my own, I wanted to order more, but considering I didn't know what the serving sizes were like, I thought best to order safe first and then comeback and go crazy (with other people of course!).

I placed my order at the counter, sat down and began to admire the decor, when the sign displaying the Honey Toast Series caught my eye. I couldn't avert my eyes from the pretty presentation and large servings of bread with various toppings. It took a HUGE effort on my part not to order one for myself... I don't think i could've finished it! Plus.. my gym session earlier would've been a waste. BUT NEXT TIME... will be quite a different story!

Mango Camomile Tea Cold (can also be served hot) - Inside were little chunks of red and green apples as well as kiwi fruit! Such a pretty drink. It was a little on the sweet side, so I tried to let the ice melt to dilute it a bit, but over all.. quite a pleasant refreshing drink! Like summer in a cup!

PS: Theres another new food joint that's opened up right next door, Makanai. Have yet to try it!

  1. The red bean soup looks great, much more appealing than the honey toast to me.
